Done for now

I have concluded that it is best for me to end my Camino and return home.  Any additional effort would potentially cause longer downstream issues.  To be honest, there isn’t enough pain killers and sunlight to get me to my next destination anyway.

I spent some time in the Catholic Church and did some reflecting and a lot of praying.  I’ve done a lot of ‘table for one’ lately, but this was a first to have a ‘pew for one’… Nice having the entire church to yourself.  I ask God if He would help me hear messages He is sending and to clear the path so I can walk in His direction.  I like to think I have a good relationship God and I wholeheartedly believe He has a plan for me.

Randomly, my dear friends Jim and Julie are coming to have dinner with me tomorrow night and to give me a ride to Madrid.  It’s a one hour flight from where they are to Madrid and they are choosing to drive 7 hours to spend a little time with me.  Jim and Julie are demonstrating one of the greatest gifts you can give somebody- TIME.  And it is happening during a period that I need it more than usual.

I am flying home on Sunday which also happens to be Pinot’s 6th birthday.  This will be a highlight for me and I can’t wait to see that little wiggle wagon.

On this trip, I have been carrying a small jar with some of Jessica’s ashes.  My intent was to find a place along the journey that really touched my heart.  However, I think tomorrow will be a good day and since my hotel is next to a beautiful river a proper place.  Maybe it wasn’t my time to finish the Camino.  Maybe, leaving a bit of Jessica here will be a good reminder of something to look forward and come back to.

This will be my last posting.  I have enjoyed writing down some thoughts and hearing your feedback and words of encouragement.  You are all very special to me and thank you for being part of this journey.

Love Ryan
